Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - The 2021 USL Championship season kicks off for Rio Grande Valley FC on Saturday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. CST at H-E-B Park as they host New Mexico United. The matchup will be live nationally on ESPN+ and locally at Somos el Valle channel 5.3, cable 1241.
Fans will be able to partake in live soccer action on Saturday for Puro 956 Night. The first 500 fans will be able to get a free "Hecho en el Valle" t-shirt, sponsored by Lone Star National Bank. After implementing its Return to Play Gameplan, H-E-B Park will be allowing a limited capacity where all seats will be socially distanced. Tickets can be purchased online at www.RGVFC.com.
RGV FC: The 2021 campaign marks a new era at the helm of returning Head Coach and Sporting Director Wilmer Cabrera, now that the club is independent and controls its own soccer operations, Para El Valle. The team will be able to compete with a more dynamic and competitive roster. The 2021 roster is composed of highly experienced players like Vicente Sanchez, Erik Pimentel, Rodrigo Lopez and Tyler Deric, but in the contrast, the Toros have young talent like Diego Rocha - the first IDEA Toros academy product to sign a professional contract.
New Mexico United: The return of Brownsville native, Isidro Martinez. Former Toros midfielder looks to make his debut, now with New Mexico, at H-E-B Park on Saturday night in front of his former squad and local family. Aside from Martinez, New Mexico will aim to continue their 2020 postseason momentum into their 2021 campaign. Along with Martinez being a key piece to the New Mexico roster, the club looks to have potent players like Brian Brown, Kalen Ryden, Amando Moreno and Devon Sandoval.
