April 11, 2007 - World Indoor Football League 2 (WIFL 2)
Augusta Colts News Release
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- After a two-game losing streak, the Augusta Spartans are hoping for strong returns for Friday's home game against the Osceola Ghostriders.
Anthony Young, who missed last week's game against the Columbus Lions due to a thumb injury, is back and so is 2006 quarterback Mike Rathe.
Young has 22 catches for 360 yards and six touchdowns this season, third best in the World Indoor Football League.
"He's ready, he's a competitor," said Coach Bubba Diggs about the return of Young.
Even though the thumb is not completely healed, "It's fine for right now.." commented Young on the condition of his thumb. He says that it does not hurt when he plays.
Young's anticipation for his returns that the duo of Marvin Stone and Young is back in business.
Great, it is always great to play at home," Young said to be making his return at a home game.
The Spartans get Young back onto the field, but John Cratic, the 330-pound defensive will have to wait a little while longer before he is able to return to fulltime field action.
Among other notables who will not be able to take to the field is backup quarterback Neal Sharma who is still out with a strained rotator cuff.
Rathe, who threw for 1,352 yards and 26 in six games last season, will start in place of Brandon Satcher.
The changes to the lineup bring renewed anticipation of Friday night's game. Can they break the two-game losing streak? How will these changes affect the team? All questions will be answered when the Spartans take the field at 7:30 p.m.
