Reno's Steve Novak Signs with San Antonio

NEW YORK, Feb. 8, 2011 - The San Antonio Spurs signed forward Steve Novak of the Reno Bighorns for the eighth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Novak's call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 87.

Novak played in two games with Reno, averaging 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 29.5 minutes. Novak also appeared in nine games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2007-08 while on assignment from the Houston Rockets, averaging 18.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

Novak (6-10, 240) appeared in seven games this season with the Dallas Mavericks, and has played in 202 career NBA games with the Mavericks, Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. With the Clippers in 2008-09, Novak logged career-high averages of 6.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 71 games.

In four seasons at Marquette University, Novak averaged 12.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 126 games. As a senior, Novak shot 46.7 percent from three-point range, averaged 17.5 points in 31 games and was named to the All-Big East First Team. Novak's 354 total three-pointers and .461 career three-point field goal percentage are both school records.

Novak is expected to join the Spurs today, and will be available for the team's game at Detroit tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.
