Novak Becomes Bighorns' First Gatorade Call-Up

RENO, Nev.- The San Antonio Spurs have signed forward Steve Novak to a 10-day contract, making him the first Gatorade Call-Up in Reno Bighorns history.

Novak, a 6-10 forward out of Marquette, signed with Reno last Friday and appeared in two games for the 'Horns. He averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in Reno's two wins at Idaho on Friday and Saturday, shooting 64.3% (9-14) from three-point range. In his Bighorns debut on Friday, he led the 'Horns with 21 points on 8-10 shooting from the field, connecting on 5-7 attempts from three-point range.

Novak boasts five years of experience at the NBA level, playing 202-career games with Houston, Dallas and the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged a career-best 6.9 points per game in 71 games with the Clippers during the 2008-09 season, and has shot 40.6% from three-point range in his NBA career.

Novak played collegiately at Marquette, helping his team to a 2003 Final Four appearance as a freshman alongside Dwayne Wade and Travis Diener. After four years at Marquette, Novak was drafted in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft (32nd overall pick).

Novak is expected to be active for San Antonio's game against Detroit tonight, which tips at 7:30 p.m. ET.
