Coach Woodrow Lowe has covered a lot of ground in the world of professional football at a youthful age of 30, considering that he is now entering into his fourth pro football league. Coach Lowe last coached professionally in the Extreme Football League for the Birmingham Thunderbolts during the XFL's one year of existence in 2001 as the linebackers coach. Woody Lowe coached Arena Football in the year 2000 for the Arkansas Twisters when Coach John Jenkins brought pro football to the state of Arkansas for the first time with the Arena Football League Twisters. Lowe directed the Defensive Line and produced a league leading unit in QB sacks. In addition to coaching Woodrow Lowe has also been highly productive as a personnel evaluator and scout. Woody scouted for the NFL Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.
Coach John Jenkins was quoted as saying; " I am very delighted to have Woody Lowe join our coaching staff, Woody is an intense fiery competitor who is an excellent teacher of defensive line play. Coach Lowe has a rich football background that our Ottawa players will benefit from tremendously." Coach Jenkins added: " Woody Lowe is a multi-dimensional coach as his talent and ability judging and evaluating players is rare. His player reports are as explicit and detailed as any I have ever studied in all my years of football. Woody Lowe is a deserving young coach who has a great future ahead of him.
"Coach Jenkins contacted me initially about this opportunity and questioned my interest in joining him in Ottawa after his hiring in November. Coach Jenkins stated initially that he needed to hire the Defensive Coordinator first and allow for the D- Coordinator to have as much input as needed. After Rod rust was hired Coach Jenkins offered me this job and I could not have been more excited. These Ottawa players will be really fired up to play under Coach Jenkins, he is a real players coach who is very demanding, tough, honest and fair to the team which all players should be excited about."
Woodrow Lowe is the son of former three time All American Linebacker for the University of Alabama; Woodrow Lowe Senior, who played many years for the San Diego Chargers. Woody Lowe is married to Zaneta Lowe and is the father of two boys; five year old Woodrow Lowe the Third and two year old Kyle Lowe.
Coach Woodrow Lowe is a member of the American Football Coaches' Association, Alabama Football Coaches' Association, was a recipient at the University of Alabama as a Bear Bryant scholarship member. In his off time Woody enjoys playing chess.
