Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Renegades began 2003 Training Camp on Sunday with back-to-back workouts at Minto Field (Nepean Sportsplex). The Renegades moved opening practices of 2003 Training Camp from Kemptville College in Kemptville, Ontario due to heavy rain on Saturday.

"In order to maintain the quality condition of the fields in Kemptville, we felt it would be best to move our practices to an artificial surface, given the amount of rain that we've had over the last 24 hours," said Renegades general manager Eric Tillman on Saturday. "With more rain expected on Sunday and perhaps the next couple of days, our practice venue will continue to be a day-to-day decision."

Here are the highlights from the first day of practice at 2003 Training Camp:

NUMBER CHANGE – WR Andre De Saussure wears 88 (changes from 79)

TRANSACTIONS – None

NOTES – Tackle Andre McNeal made his presence known with some solid hits ... Sessions lasted four hours total. The turf was slippery from Saturday's rain, but the weather was fine for the duration of Sunday's practices.

SCHEDULE FOR MONDAY – To be determined. Renegades football operations will assess the field conditions at Kemptville College on Sunday afternoon before deciding the schedule for Monday. A schedule will be distributed as soon as it becomes available.
