RiverCity Rage News Release

The RiverCity Renegades search for a local owner ended Monday when the National Indoor Football League accepted a proposed bid by St. Charles resident Ed Watkins.

Watkins brings previous football ownership experience to the organization, having won a championship with a semi-professional team, the St. Louis Gamblers, in 1988.

The Renegades have been under the direction of Managing Partner Bill Magers since he arrived in St. Charles in April.

"One of the first things we did was move the team to Downtown St. Charles. I thought it was important that our team offices be located in the community we were representing," Magers said.

He then went on to hire a new head coach, Bill Charles, formerly of the Iowa Barnstormers, and together they have been working to create ties with business and civic leaders in the community.

"My primary goal was to find a stable, well-financed local ownership group who could take control of the organization to help put it on the right path for the future," Magers said. "We're excited to have Ed running the team."

Watkins has appointed Pat Daly, formerly of the RiverCity Rascals, as the new General Manager, and with a new management team in place, the organization will be working on finishing out this season and planning for next year.

The Renegades are currently 0-9 with five games left this year. The final two home games are scheduled for June 22 against the Winston-Salem Energy and July 6 against the Sioux City Bandits at the Family Arena in St. Charles. For questions or ticket information, call (636) 410-0333.
