Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades injury woes mounted Thursday, when the team announced that starting cornerback Bo Rogers suffered a fracture in his right wrist during the Renegades road game at Saskatchewan on Sunday.
Rogers, a rookie defensive back â who has already missed nine weeks this season due to a broken finger, is out for an indefinite period of time after X-rays revealed the injury this week. With the Renegades off, thanks to a bye week, the time off will give the Miami native time to heal and examine the wrist next week.
"Bo is in a cast right now and we will re-evaluate his situation on Monday," said Renegades head coach Joe Paopao. "The doctors will get together and take a look and we'll know more later on. We do know that Bo is in a cast right now. Sometimes you can play with a cast, sometimes you can't."
During the 36-22 Renegades loss in Regina on Sunday, the team also lost their other starting cornerback â Jonathan Ordway â and defensive tackle Roger Dunbrack to injuries.
Rogers joined the Renegades this spring and had a solid start to 2004, beginning with a brilliant debut in Winnipeg in the season opener. He had four tackles, forced a fumble and broke up three passes against the Bombers before missing the next nine games. The five-foot-nine, 187-pounder made his return September 3rd against Montreal and started the next four games, including the battle against the Roughriders.
Ottawa's next home game is October 9th when the Renegades host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Frank Clair Stadium. Tickets are still available by calling 613-755-1166.
