Richmond Renegades News Release
The Richmond Renegades today announced they have come to terms with former Richmond Riverdogs (formerly UHL) goalie Doug Groenestege and are looking forward to having him in camp October 17th.
Groenestege appeared in 22 games for the Riverdogs of the UHL last season compiling a 6-22-4 record and a .897 GAA. Originally from Mitchell, Ontario, he played for the Ottawa 67's and the Mississauga Ice Dogs of the OHL where he sported a .912 GAA. His final college year was played at the University of British Columbia of the CIS.
"He only appeared in 25% of the Riverdogs games last year yet he made believers out of a lot of people," stated Head Coach John Brophy. "Doug will be a real factor for this team and in this league because he really knows how to use his size and agility to his advantage. He plays the puck very well, doesn't give up rebounds and has learned how to cover the angles."
The Richmond Renegades begin training camp at the Richmond Coliseum October 17th. Information on season tickets, corporate sponsorships and group sales is available be calling the Renegades office at 804-644-PUCK (7825) or going to the website at www.rrenegades.com. The Renegades first home game is Saturday, October 28th at 7:35 PM against Jacksonville.
