North Iowa Outlaws News Release
The North Iowa Outlaws reclaimed the top spot in the Central Division with a 5-3 win over the Springfield Jr Blues on Sunday evening, backstopped by goalie Zak Reneau who made his first start, coming in for the injured Austin Maginnis and Robby Moss. Reneau stopped 31 of 34 to pick up the win, while Krystian Dziubinski scored twice in the victory. The game was highlighted by a Brooks DeZellar penalty shot in the second period which he scored on with a nice move to chase Phil Cook from the game.
The Outlaws gave up the first goal of the game as the Jr. Blues got one passed Reneau, but the rookie goaltender shook off the rust and got help when Dziubinski scored with just under four minutes left in the period. In the second, North Iowa added three, three different ways. Dziubinski scored his second on the power play, followed by Dzellar's penalty shot, and topped off by Ross Ring-Jarvi's shorthanded strike for a 4-1 lead after two.
In the third the Jr Blues added two to make it close down the stretch but Ring-Jarvi cashed in on an empty net goal to seal the game and put the Outlaws back on top. The Outlaws and Jr Blues finish off the three game set on New Years Eve, with a night of fun and excitement at the North Iowa Ice Arena at 7:30 pm.
