Amarillo, TX - Behind four rushing scores from quarterback Julian Reese, the Amarillo Venom took care of the Abilene Ruff Riders 58-50 Saturday night.

The first frame was a defensive struggle with each team jumping on the scoreboard via touchdown reception. Abilene wideout Corey White garnered his first score of the season as the game was knotted at seven after the first quarter.

Amarillo earned two turnovers in the quarter from a fumble forced and recovered by Cedric Wilson and an interception by Cashmin Thomas to the period. The score at the half, Amarillo 31, Abilene 27.

Both defenses held their ground in the third quarter, as Amarillo notched the stanza's only score. Julian Reese scrambled his way from seven yards out (third of the game), giving Amarillo the 37-27 lead at the end of three quarters.

The Venom pulled away in the fourth, including a kickoff return for a touchdown by Cashmin Thomas (first Venom kickoff return for a touchdown this season). Running back Sha-Ron Edwards capped off a lengthy Amarillo drive (took 4:15 off the clock) in the quarter and Julian Reese added a rushing score, while the Amarillo defense stopped Abilene twice on fourth down. Final score, Amarillo 58, Abilene 50.
