FARGO, ND-The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (21-21) scored nine runs over the first three innings to cruise to a 10-4 win over the Joliet JackHammers (17-30) before 4,160 fans at Newman Outdoor Field on Saturday afternoon.

The RedHawks scored two runs in the 1st inning against Joliet RHP Jason Richardson (1-7). RF Mike Coles (4-4) led off the game with a double and SS Zach Penprase (1-4) worked a walk.

After CF Nic Jackson (1-5) flew out to center field and 3B Jeremiah Piepkorn (2-5) struck out, LF Justin Justice (1-4) roped a two-run double to plate both men for a 2-0 Fargo-Moorhead lead.

The RedHawks touched up Richardson for two runs in the 2nd inning to take a 4-0 lead. 1B Alan Rick (1-4) doubled and C Tony Richards (1-3) struck out. DH Scott Koerber (0-2) was hit by a pitch.

Coles singled home Rick and Koerber came around to score on a double by Jackson for a 4-0 Fargo-Moorhead advantage.

The RedHawks scored five runs in the 3rd inning to take the commanding 9-0 lead. SS Zach Penprase (1-4) recorded the big hit with a two-run home run off JackHammers LHP Devin Anderson.

The JackHammers got on the board in the 8th inning with a two-run home run by 3B Andrew Pinckney (1-3). Tim Alberts (0-1), pinch-hit for LF Brad Correll (1-2) in the 8th inning, and worked a walk. Pinckney pulled a pitch from RedHawks RHP Billy Weitzman over the right field wall to get the JackHammers on the board at 10-2.

In the 9th inning, 1B Freddie Thon (1-4) led off the inning with a double and scored on a two-run home run by RF Wally Backman, Jr. (1-3) for a 10-4 Fargo-Moorhead lead.

The JackHammers and RedHawks finish their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The JackHammers have yet to announce a starting pitcher. The RedHawks will start LHP Broc Coffman (6-2, 4.37). Pre-game coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on AM 1340 WJOL and online at www.jackhammerbaseball.com.
