RedHawks Drop Game Two in Series against Saltdogs

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (32-13) could not overcome an early six-run deficit and lost 7-2 to the Lincoln Saltdogs (23-21) on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field. The Saltdogs scored six runs in the first two innings, including three on a Josh Altmann home run in the second.
Lincoln struck right away in the first inning on an RBI fielder's choice from third baseman Ryan Long and an RBI single from first baseman Matt Goodheart. In the second inning Altmann hit a three-run home run and Welington Dotel (4-for-5, 2 RBI) hit an RBI single to make it a six-run game. Dotel would drive in his second run of the game in the fourth inning with another RBI single to make it 7-0.
Fargo-Moorhead starter Taylor Bloye (0-1) pitched for the RedHawks for the first time since 2019 and earned the loss after allowing seven runs (two unearned) on 11 hits and two walks in five innings pitched. Bloye struck out three Saltdogs batters in the loss. Tanner Riley, Luke Lind, and Joe Jones pitched four scoreless combined innings in relief.
Saltdogs starter Garett Delano (2-1) allowed only two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four batters in 6.1 innings and earned the win. Relievers Matt Cronin, David Zoz, and Carter Hope also pitched in the win.
The RedHawks weren't able to score until the seventh inning and cut the deficit to five runs on RBI singles from left fielder Rymer Liriano and center fielder Evan Alexander. Eight of nine Fargo-Moorhead batters registered a hit in the loss.
Fargo-Moorhead and Lincoln will conclude their three-game series with a game tomorrow afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The probable starters have not been announced for the series finale.
