Kane County Completes the Sweep in Geneva, Win 5-1

GENEVA, ILL. - The Kane County Cougars defeated the Lake Country DockHounds in the finale of the series 5-1 Sunday evening.
The scoring would begin in the third with two runs coming across for the Cougars, but the inning did not start out pretty. Lake Country's starter Evan Kruczynski struck out Alexis Pantoja and Galli Cribbs Jr. An RBI double by Steve Lombardozzi and an RBI single from Cornelius Randolph scored two runs.
Jimmy Kerrigan would smack a two-run home run in the fifth that went over the scoreboard. The lead would be 4-0 Kane County.
The seventh inning would produce the DockHounds' only run, but a lot of base runners were accrued. Gio Brusa led off with a single to give him his second base knock of the contest.
Jake Snider doubled and Wilfredo Gimenez drew a crucial walk to load the bases. Tristen Carranza drove in Brusa with an RBI single. However, Lake Country would strand three base runners.
With the bases loaded in the seventh, Dylan Busby was walked to drive in the fifth run for the Cougars. The final score read 5-1 Kane County, with the Cougars sweeping.
