
RedHawks and JackHammers Suspended Sunday

JOLIET- The Joliet JackHammers and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were suspended with two outs in the bottom of the 3rd inning on Sunday afternoon due to wet field conditions with the JackHammers holding an 8-0 lead. No make-up date has been announced for the two clubs to finish the contest.
The JackHammers scored a run in the 1st inning. 3B Vince Harrison walked and 1B Freddie Thon singled. An RBI single by Joe Gaetti gave the JackHammers a 1-0 lead.
Joliet scored five runs in the 2nd inning and two runs in the 3rd inning. SS Kevin Rios smacked a two-run home run to give the JackHammers an 8-0 lead in the 3rd inning before the rains came.
The game was delayed one hour before the decision was made to suspend the game.
The JackHammers start a three-game series with the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Monday night at Silver Cross Field at 7:05 p.m. It's Holy Half Price Monday with half-off group tickets the game. The JackHammers also celebrate All Faith Night with pre-game testimonials. It's also the American Family Insurance Negro League Tribute Night with both teams wearing special Negro League replica uniforms. The RailCats send RHP Derell McCall (5-0, 2.67) to the mound against RHP Nate Sevier (2-2, 3.13) for the JackHammers. The JackHammers are currently home through Wednesday, August 19. On Tuesday, August 18 the JackHammers continue their series with the Gary SouthShore RailCats at 6:05 p.m. It's Family Night with kids running the bases on the field after the game. It's also another reading club night with those students that participated in the National City Jammer's Book Buddies Program eligible to exchange their reading club vouchers for tickets to the game.
