Redfish Homecoming Soured By Bradenton

Charlotte County Redfish News Release
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Redfish took to the field at Charlotte Sports Park wearing their home uniforms but they were playing a road game. Due to schedule conflicts, all of the games of the "Sunshine State Rivalry Series" presented by Fairchild Roofing, will take place at Charlotte Sports Park. Tonight's game felt nothing like a homecoming for the Redfish, who couldn't squeeze anything past Juice pitching in a 7-0 loss.
Jackie Hernandez, Redfish manager, made several modifications to his roster, especially in terms of relief pitching. Hernandez hoped that these moves would spark his team's offense and possibly bring a victory for the Redfish, though they were technically playing a road game. The Redfish faced a familiar foe in Tim Bascom (2-0), Bradenton's starting pitcher, who was only announced to start twenty minutes before the start of the ballgame. Charlotte County tried early and often to break Bascom but he forced Redfish hitters to go down in order in two of his four innings of work. Bascom pitched four innings and allowed two Redfish runners to reach base but he didn't pitch the necessary five innings to earn the victory.
Starting pitching, which has hurt the Redfish so far this season, didn't far much better against Bradenton on this Memorial Day. Reynaldo Correal started strong, with his best inning of work coming in the second as the set down the Juice in order. Correal's night, though began to unravel in the third inning as Bradenton was able to plate four runs on five hits before Brenan Herrera skied a pop-fly to end the inning. Correal lasted four and two-third innings allowing seven runs, six earned on eight hits. Correal did strike out two Juice batters bumping his season total to nine.
A bright spot on a cool Memorial Day evening for the Redfish and Hernandez was the relief efforts he got from his two new additions, Brandon Camardese and Javier Fiallo. The two relievers combined pitched two and one-third innings. They struck out three and only allowed two hits. Even Redfish closer, Aristedes Almenar, got some work in tonight as he pitched a one walk, one strikeout eighth inning.
The Redfish look to rebound as they take the field at Charlotte Sports Park, as visitors, and face the Bradenton Juice in the second game of the second installment of the "Sunshine State Rivalry Series" presented by Fairchild Roofing. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM. All Redfish games can be heard on 1070 AM WKII and online at www.redfishbaseball.com. For more information, check out www.redfishbaseball.com.
