Redfish Can't Tame Foxhounds

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- Looking to win their third series of the season, the Charlotte County Redfish sent LHP Tommy Sutton to the mound for his second start against RHP Anthony Telford. The last time these two teams faced, the Redfish came from behind in the late innings to take home a win. With 21 hits and 4 errors between the two teams, it was battle between who could score last and it was the Foxhounds edging out the Redfish 8-5.

Millard Dawson used some aggressive base running as he stretched a single to left into a double. PJ Lehmann reached on a fielder's choice as Dawson draw a bad throw from Telford and the Redfish had something cooking. Manager Cecil Fielder put the runners in motion and worked to perfection as Josh Murray placed an RBI single through the right side of the infield and the Redfish were up 1-0.

Sutton held the Foxhounds scoreless in the 1st inning but the Aiken were silent as they came up in the next half inning. Kelly Hunt singled up the middle and Bradley Key walked to start the bottom of the 2nd inning. Ben Bando blooped an RBI double and Reinaldo Ramirez followed with a 2 RBI double to give the Foxhounds a 3-1 lead with no outs in the inning. Sutton struck out Scott Houin for the first out but the Foxhounds added another run with Will Gonzalez reaching on a fielder's choice and Aiken led it 4-1.

The Redfish brought their hot bats to the plate in the top of the 3rd inning. With two outs, PJ Lehmann continued his hot streak as he ripped a double to left. Josh Murray, who went 4-for-4 on the night, drilled his second home run in as many games and the Redfish were within a run, 4-3.

Aiken got a long ball of their own off the bat of Bradley Key with a runner aboard in the 3rd inning. Sutton lasted 3.0 innings with 5 ER on 6 hits, 1 BB and 3 Ks. The Foxhounds added another run in the 4th inning off Redfish reliever Mike Rigazio, who made his professional debut.

The Redfish again responded as Lehmann, who finished the night going 2-for-5, singled over the head of ‘Hounds' left fielder Ben Bando and moved all the way to third as Murray tattooed a ball up the middle. William Plaza brought Lehmann home as the runners were in motion and he put one between first and second and Gutierrez plated Murray to move the Redfish within 3 runs, 8-5.

Andy Polk and Aaron Easton kept the Redfish in game as they combined to throw 3.1 innings with 2 hits, 1 BB and 3 Ks. Easton also worked another 1-2-3 inning, his second in as many games. Charlotte County though couldn't tough the Foxhounds bullpen. Telford finished the night with 5 ER on 8 hits, and 5 Ks in 5.0 innings. The Foxhounds relief pitched 4.0 innings and allowed only 2 hits and struck out 2 and handed the Redfish a 8-5 loss.

The Redfish and the Foxhounds will play two games tomorrow night, July 7th, as they make up a rainout from back on June 2nd. They will play 2 7-inning games with the first pitch of the 1st game coming at 5:05 PM. These will be the last two game of the 1st half of the season as the second half commences on Sunday when the Redfish head to Macon, Georgia to take on the Music. First pitch will be at 2:05 PM.
