ROUND ROCK - John Gall picked up one of three Express hits, extending his streak of reaching base safely at home to a Pacific Coast League-high 16 games dating back to Opening Day as Round Rock's winning streak was halted at two games.

Despite a strong effort from right-handed pitcher Bud Norris (0-2) on Tuesday, the Redbirds rode the arm of Blake Hawksworth (2-2) to a 3-1 victory to split a four-game series with the Express at The Dell Diamond.

Norris worked seven strong innings, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on five hits. He issued a season-high six walks, but fanned seven. Gall and Brian Bogusevic each doubled for Round Rock. Matt Kata tallied the only other hit for Round Rock - a single off reliever Jess Todd in an eventful ninth.

Needing two runs to tie the game, Bogusevic drew a lead-off walk from Hawksworth, who turned the ball over to Todd. Kata drove a shot through the hole at second base, putting the winning run in the batter's box.

But Todd worked through, getting Gall and Edwin Maysonet on strikes before Lou Santangelo grounded into a force out to end the game.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, the Express picked up its lone run when Norris reached base on a throwing error by infielder Casey Rowlett. Bogusevic followed with a two-out double that pulled the Express to within 2-1.

Gall followed up with Round Rock's second hit in the fourth, hammering his fifth double of the season to left field. Hawksworth was unrelenting, though, retiring 14 of the last 15 batters he faced.

Over his home stretch, Gall is batting .339 (19-for-56) with five doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI.

Round Rock takes Wednesday off before heading to Albuquerque for the start of an eight-game road swing that ends in New Orleans. The Express returns home Friday, May 8 to face Oklahoma City.
