Red Wolves Host Greenville Triumph SC for Final Home Match of the 2023 Season

The Chattanooga Red Wolves will take on Greenville Triumph SC for the final time this season at CHI Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 7th. The last time these two teams faced off was on August 23rd where Greenville took home the points in a 2-1 victory. The first meeting ended in a 5-1 loss to the Red Wolves on June 21st.

The Red Wolves will be looking for a win in their final home game of the 2023 season and their third win in a row after beating Central Valley Fuego FC by 3 goals to 1 on Saturday, September 30th. The Red Wolves started off strong with multiple shots on target in the opening minutes of the match. Both teams battled it out in the first half, and Central Valley Fuego went up 1-0 in the 39th minute of the match after converting off a penalty kick. The Red Wolves proved to be the better team in the second half and went up 2-1 in the first 10 minutes. Marios Lomis opened the scoring after finishing a cross from Defender Ryley Kraft; Mayele Malango added the second goal moments later with a skillful finish to get past his defender and ultimately kicking it through the legs of Central Valley Fuego goalkeeper. The final goal came in the 73rd minute of the match after Chevone Marsh took advantage of a mistake from Fuego defender to make it 3-1.

Greenville Triumph SC won their last match on Wednesday, October 4th with a 2-1 victory over Central Valley Fuego FC. Both teams pushed hard in their attacking half to get on the scoreboard first but went into half time tied at 0. The match began to open up in the second half, and Central Valley Fuego found the first goal of the match in the 61st minute from a loose ball in the box. Greenville quickly responded with a tying goal from Jamie Smith in the 69th minute. Greenville was able to secure the win in the 77th minute of the match with a goal from Jacob Labovitz.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves will play their final game of the season against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Saturday, October 14th in Windsor, Colorado. The last meeting between these two teams ended in a 1-1 draw on July 8th.

This Saturday the Chattanooga Red Wolves will host Greenville Triumph in the last home match of the 2023 USL League One regular season. This contest will serve as the fourth annual Pink Out match benefiting the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center. The Pink Out match will feature pregame live music from local musician Nick Stuard, post-game fireworks, pink-themed concessions items, pink rally towel giveaways and more. The MaryEllen Locher Breast Center will also be bringing its mammogram coach to the math to offer screenings to those in attendance.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves and MaryEllen Locher Breast Center have also collaborated on a match-exclusive Pink themed Warmup Jersey. The Pink Jersey was designed by local artist and longtime supporter of MaryEllen Locher Breast Center Missy May Pierano alongside Angie Supan, a breast cancer survivor who helped pick the final design.

MALANGO NAMED TO USL LEAGUE ONE TEAM OF THE WEEK

Mayele Malango has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for the first time after an impressive performance in their last home match against Central Valley Fuego FC. Malango scored the second goal in the 3-1 victory over Fuego after turning his defender and nutmegging the keeper. Malango was also nominated for Goal of the Week.

CARLOS AVILEZ NOMINATED FOR USL LEAGUE ONE SAVE OF THE WEEK

Red Wolves goalkeeper Carlos Avilez has been nominated for USL League One Save of the Week after an impressive double save in the 30th minute against Central Valley Fuego FC. Carlos has 69 saves recorded in the 2023 season and two shutouts.
