Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday recalled center Michael Rasmussen from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
??During his three-game conditioning stint with Grand Rapids, Rasmussen tallied two goals and five shots while helping the Griffins to a 2-1 record. In his AHL debut at Texas on Jan. 31, the 19-year-old collected his first AHL goal while on the power play and later added an empty-netter to seal a 5-3 victory.
??Appearing in 41 games with the Red Wings during his rookie season, Rasmussen has posted 13 points (6-7-13) and 19 penalty minutes. Selected ninth overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Rasmussen places third on the team and ties for sixth among NHL rookies with three power play goals. He has not played in the NHL since Jan. 4 vs. Nashville due to injury.
??Before turning professional, the 6-foot-6, 221-pound center skated in 161 games with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League from 2014-18, recording 157 points (81-76-157), a plus-eight rating and 129 PIM. He helped the Americans advance to the 2018 conference finals after finishing as one of the league's top playoff scorers with 33 points (2nd), 16 goals (T2nd), 17 assists (T5th) and seven power play goals (T1st).
??The Central Division-leading Griffins continue their season-high seven-game homestand on Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
?Single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans can secure their full-season, select-season or group ticket packages by calling (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com for more information.
