March 29, 2018 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Moncton Magic News Release
Fresh off a huge win in Halifax, the Moncton Magic traveled to Saint John for the first of two back-to-back games in what's been coined the Battle of the 506. These two NB teams have both had tremendous seasons, Moncton with the slight edge, each looking for a strong finish.
Amazing support by Saint John provided an audience of over five thousand, which proved thrilling for both fans and players. After a number of lead changes throughout, the Riptide took the first matchup with some hot shooting in the 2nd half, 96-90.
Corey Allmond started hot for the Magic and led in points with 22. Juan Pattillo had an immensely involved 13-rebound 20-point double-double, putting him at the top of our box score and earning him Player of the Game. Marvell Waithe and Anthony Anderson were up next with 14 and 11 points respectively.
Aly Ahmed led for the Riptide; he scored 21 for the home team along with 6 rebounds. Just trailing were Horace Wormley, Malcolm Miller, and Mareik Isom, with 17, 15, and 14 respectively.
Despite the loss Moncton has locked up 2nd place for the playoffs, and will have home court advantage in the first round; their opponent is currently TBD.
The Magic will now return home to play Saint John again, now hosting the Riptide for their last regular season game of the season, Saturday March 31st 7:00pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
