Reberger returns in expanded role

The Edmonton Cracker Cats Baseball Club is pleased to announce today that Frank Reberger will return to the Ball Club in 2007 in a dual role, he retains his Pitching Coach title and takes on the added position as Field Manager.

"After our first 2 seasons of operation we decided it was time to move in a new direction, and there's no question that Frank is the man to accomplish that task", the words of Cracker Cats Owner and President, Dan Orlich.

Reberger began his long career in professional baseball 41 seasons ago, after his senior year at the University of Idaho. He signed a Pro Contract with The Chicago Cubs, playing for The Caldwell Cubs in The Pioneer League.

Following his rookie season, Frank moved up quickly through The Cubs Minor League system playing in Dallas Fort Worth in The Texas League, Lodi in The California League, and Tacoma in The Pacific Coast League.

From 1968 through 1973 Reberger pitched in the Major Leagues with The Cubs, Padres and Giants. A life time record of 14 and 15 with 8 saves, and a 4.51 earned run average, and a career .250 batting average.

After a 7 year hiatus from the game where he operated a fishing lodge in Idaho Reberger returned to baseball in 1982 as a pitching instructor at Orlando Cepedas Baseball School in Puerto Rico and was the pitching coach of The Dominican Summer League Champion Puerto Plata Pirates.

From 1984 through 1987 Frank was the pitching coach of The Edmonton Trappers; the 84 club led by future Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Kirk Mcaskill won the PCL championship.

Frank returned to The Major Leagues in 1991 as The Bull Pen Coach of The California Angels, and was on the staff of the original entry of The Florida Marlines in the same position, in 1993 and 1994.

In affiliated baseball Reberger has been, a pitching coach, roving pitching instructor, and a manager with several teams including the 1998 Bakers Field Blaze in The California League, and the 1999 Salem- Kaiser Volcanoes in The North West League.

Reberger's winter league experience includes a pitching coach assignment in 1986 with Mayaquez in Puerto Rico, and in 1988 as The Field Manager with La Romana in The Dominican Republic.

Reberger's return to Edmonton will be his third trip to The Northern League; he was the Pitching Coach in 2001 in Sioux City, and in 2000 with The West Division Champion, Duluth Superior Dukes.

Frank was inducted into The Idaho Sport Hall of Fame in 1997 and into The Idaho High School Sport Hall of Fame in 1999.

The Cracker Cats new Field Manager will be in Edmonton next week to announce his coaching staff and other matters.
