Ottawa Rebel News Release

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Rebel of the National Lacrosse League signed veteran free-agent attacker Billy LeFeuvre today in a move to bolster the club's scoring .

LeFeuvre starred in his rookie NLL season last year with the New Jersey Storm, scoring 20 goals and 11 assists in 15 games. The league honoured LeFeuvre in January of 2002, naming him rookie of the week.

"We're very excited to have Billy on our team," said Rebel general manager Lindsay Sanderson. "He is a talent player who can score. He has a tremendous up-side that will help our club."

LeFeuvre (pronounced Le-FAIV) played college lacrosse for Canisius College in Buffalo, New York.

To make room for LeFeuvre on its roster, the Rebel traded veteran attacker Dan Marohl to the New York Saints for future considerations. Marohl, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, scored one goal in four games for the Rebel this season.

The departure of Marohl and the addition of LeFeuvre gives Ottawa an all-Canadian roster.

Next Rebel game is at home (Civic Centre, Lansdowne Park) against the Toronto Rock on Thursday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The Rebel beat the Colorado Mammoth 13-11 on January 11 to improve the club's record to 2-2 on the season. The win also marked the first time in franchise history that the Rebel won back-to-back games.

Tickets are available by phoning 231-5608, ext. 224, or in person at the Rebel administration office located at Lansdowne Park next to the south grandstand of Frank Clair Stadium on the Bank Street side.
