Rebel Drop Seventh Straight
CALGARY -- The Ottawa Rebel lost its seventh straight game, dropping a 26-16 score to the Calgary Roughnecks Sunday afternoon at Penngrowth Saddledome.
The 26 goals allowed established a Rebel record.
Tracey Kelusky led the Calgary attack with eight goals and one assist. Lewis Ratcliff added four goals for the Roughnecks while Kaleb Toth and Tyson Leies scored three each.
Jason Clark led the Rebel with six goals and one assist. Mat Giles also had a seven-point game (three goals and four assists).
Kevin Dostie scored twice for the Rebel while Kevin Howard, Brad Self, Scott Self, Jamie Roy and Stephen Evans got one each for Ottawa.
Ottawa (4-11) has not won on the road since Jan. 4 against the New York Saints and finishes the 2003 season with a 1-7 record away from Ottawa.
The Rebel has one game remaining, a home game against the Columbus Landsharks at the Civic Centre on Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Ottawa will try for its fifth win of the season in the final game. A victory would set an all-time franchise record for victories in one season.
The 26 goals by Calgary surpassed the 25 scored against the Rebel during a game against the Buffalo Bandits during the team's inaugural 2000-2001 season.
