The Ottawa Rebel equalled a team record of four wins in one season by beating the Philadelphia Wings 11-9 at the Civic Centre. Led by the outstanding goaltending of Matt Disher and a four-goal performance by Kevin Howard, the Rebel also improved the club's home record to 3-2.
The Rebel trailed 5-4 at halftime but rallied in the third quarter, outscoring the Wings 4-1 in the third 20-minute frame to take a 10-6 lead. Philadelphia got back into the game and narrowed the Ottawa lead to a single goal when Tom Ryan beat Disher at 7:42 of the fourth.
But Howard scored his fourth goal of the game at 9:15 of the final frame to regain Ottawa its two-goal lead. Ottawa forward Kevin Howard extended a scoring streak to eight games. Howard is the only player on the Rebel roster to record at least one goal and one assist in each of the team's games this season.
