Real Monarchs SLC Signs Forward Joe Gallardo

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs have signed FW Joe Gallardo from USL League One side Richmond Kickers, the club announced today. Gallardo's signing is pending league and federation approval while the terms of his signing have not been disclosed.

"Joe is a player that had a very good season in League One with Richmond Kickers," RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. "At his age and background, Joe is exactly the type of guy we look to bring into the Monarchs. Not only is he a quality player, he is a quality person that we believe can come in and make an immediate impact at the Championship level. We're excited that we were able to work with Richmond to make this deal happen. League One will be a place we continue to look for good young talent that we believe can contribute at the USL Championship level, and hopefully the MLS level."

Gallardo signed with the Kickers prior to the start of the inaugural USL League One season where he made 25 appearances for the club, all of which were starts, and went on to score six goals while adding two assists. Growing up in the Monterrey academy system in Mexico until 2016, Gallardo made the move to the United States in 2016 joining the Orlando City U-17/18 Academy. In 2017, the San Diego native signed a contract with Orlando City B and went on to make seven appearances in the USL Championship.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity at a club that is known for giving young players opportunities," Gallardo said. "I'm already getting to work to try and help the club to win another championship."
