Real Monarchs SLC Continues Four-Corners Cup against Phoenix Rising FC

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC (3-4-3, 12 points, 15 West) returns home to Herriman, Utah to play its second match in the Four-Corners Cup as it hosts defending Western Conference Champion Phoenix Rising FC. The match is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 where kick-off from Zions Bank Stadium is set for 8:00 p.m. MT.

Saturday's match-up will be highlighted by Military Appreciation Night. As a thank you to our military service members and their families, complimentary tickets are available with military ID at the box office on the day of the game and through Utah MWR in advance. Tickets will also be available for $5 with promo code MILITARY at realmonarchs.com/promo. The first 500 fans in the stadium will also receive Real Monarchs dog tags and throughout the night, tacos will be available for $1.

Real Monarchs come back from a dramatic finish in Oklahoma City, as the Monarchs secured a road point during stoppage time to level the match 1-1 with OKC Energy FC. After an intense back and forth between the two teams in the first half, the Monarchs nearly got on the board just before the break when FW Tate Schmitt snuck away a headed goal that was ultimately flagged offside and reversed. The Greens responded in the second half to get on the board in the 71st minute that looked to be the deciding goal, but Schmitt struck again after a long-cross from MF Maikel Chang found the head of Schmitt. Though the initial header was deflected by the Energy goalkeeper, Schmitt cleaned up in the dying seconds of stoppage time to secure the road point for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs now return home to play its second match in the Four-Corners Cup when it plays host to Phoenix Rising FC. Through the 2018 regular season, the two teams clashed twice which saw the Monarchs walk away with the full three points on both occasions. The last contest took place in July of last year in a match that saw the Monarchs dominate the scoring, 4-1. The Utah side aims to climb the Western Conference table while making an impact in the inaugural season of the Four-Corners Cup.
