
Real Monarchs Signs Defender Nicolas Gimenez

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs announced today the signing of defender Nicolas Gimenez, pending league and federation approval. The terms of the signing have not been disclosed.
"We are excited to welcome Nicolas to the RSL family," RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. "Although only 22 years old, he comes to us with experience in the Argentinian first and second divisions. He is physically imposing, calm on the ball, and has good vision up the field. We are excited for him to get to work with Jamison and the rest of the staff, and we expect him to make an impact in 2020."
Gimenez, 22, joins the 2019 USL Championship Title-Winners from the Argentinian top flight, having played with Rosario Central for three seasons and San MartÃÂn de Tucumán in the 2019-20 season. The young center-back played his youth career with Rosario Central before earning his professional debut in 2017 in the Argentine Primera División as a late-game substitution.
Real Monarchs finished the 2019 season having won its first USL Championship Title after finishing 4th in the Western Conference at 16-10-8 (56 points). The Monarchs begins their title defense on the road against San Antonio FC on March 7 before returning to Zions Bank Stadium to begin its Four-Corners Cup defense against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. MT.
