Real Monarchs News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs have signed 2019 USL League One Most Valuable Player Arturo Rodriguez on loan from USL League One side North Texas SC for the 2020 season, the club announced today. Rodriguez's loan is pending league and federation approval.
"Arturo is one of the most exciting and productive players in all of USL," RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. "When the opportunity to bring him to Monarchs arose, we jumped at the chance to add him. He is goal dangerous, looks to create opportunities for the rest of the front line, and is one of the most technical players in USL. He'll fit in nicely with our attack and complement the attacking pieces well."
Rodriguez, 21, joins the 2019 USL Championship Title-Winners after a successful rookie season at North Texas SC where he won the USL League One title and was crowned the league's MVP and Young Player of the Year after recording seven goals while contributing a league-leading 10 assists in 30 matches played. The Texas native put away the lone goal in the USL League One Final to help North Texas SC claim the inaugural USL League One title. A product of the FC Dallas Academy, Rodriguez was a standout at the youth level where he featured in 13 matches in 2017 and scored the game-winning goal against CF Monterrey Rayados in Dallas Cup XXXVIII Final to lead FC Dallas to its first Gordon Jago Super Group title.
Real Monarchs enter the 2020 USL Championship season after having won its first USL Championship Title after finishing 4th in the Western Conference at 16-10-8 (56 points) in 2019. The Monarchs begin its title defense on the road against San Antonio FC on March 7th before returning to Zions Bank Stadium to begin its Four-Corners Cup defense against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. MT.
