Reading Express News Release

Reading, Pa. (August 31, 2010) -The Reading Express recently announced a switch to the Indoor Football League for the 2011 season. Today they announced that two members of their 2009 National Championship team will be making the switch as well. Kicker Erik Rockhold and defensive back Clarence Curry became the first two players to sign on for the new season.

Rockhold has been with the Express since their first season in Reading in 2006. He has amassed 815 points in his career in Reading and holds the distinction of playing in every one of the Express' 84 games played. A product of Appalachian State, Rockhold has become not only one of the most durable and dependable kickers, but a fan favorite in Reading as well. Tagged with the nickname of "Erik The Rouge" for his ability to add points to the scoreboard after touchdowns, Rockhold has totaled 95 field goals, 423 extra points, and 107 rouges in his career.

Signed midway through the championship season of 2009, Curry has proven to be an extremely athletic and valuable player for the Express on the defensive side of the ball. Curry came to the Express from Villanova University and quickly made the adjustment to the indoor game with his ability to lock down wide receivers in one-on-one coverage. His speed and quickness have also made him a valuable part of Reading's special teams unit.

"We are thrilled to have Rock and Curry re-sign for another season of Express football," said head coach Chris Thompson. "Both of these guys are not only great athletes but they are great people and role models for our community. These two guys have been a huge reason for our success on and off the field and we look for more great things to come when we kickoff in February of 2011."

Reading Express Indoor Professional Football began play in 2006 in the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. In five seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 64-20 with four playoff appearances, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading will begin play as a new member of the Indoor Football League.
