Reading Express Add Depth with Five New Signings

Reading, Pa. (December 13, 2010) - The Reading Express have reached agreement with five more players who will report to camp in 2011 looking to win a job with the team in their first season of competition in the Indoor Football League.

Adrian Perez (6'0" 220 lbs) is originally a product of Florida's University of Miami. A veteran of indoor football, Perez has played previously in the IFL. In 2009 he was on the roster of the Saginaw Sting, and in 2010 he spent time with the West Michigan ThunderHawks.

Michael Thompson (6'0" 245 lbs) is a linebacker from Benedict College in South Carolina. He was a three year starter for the Tigers, who compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. A team-leading 97 tackles, 17 of which were tackles for a loss, as well as six sacks, led to Thompson being named first team All Conference in his senior season of 2009.

Kaleb Lawrence (6'2" 245 lbs) will also compete for a spot at linebacker. A product of Glenville State University in West Virginia, Lawrence was an All Conference performer. After compiling 109 tackles, 13 of which were tackles for a loss, he was named to the first team West Virginia Athletic Conference all star team.

A.J. Saunders (5'11" 195 lbs) comes to the Express after playing college football at Slippery Rock University. A four-year contributor for the Rocks, Saunders amassed 100 tackles and 6 interceptions as a defensive back.

Chris Knechel (6'2" 305 lbs) will compete for a spot on the offensive line in Reading. A product of King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Knechel was named 2nd Team All MAC Conference in both his junior and senior seasons. In 2009, he played for the Harrisburg Stampede in the AIFA.

Reading Express Indoor Professional Football began play in 2006 in the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. In five seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 64-20 with four playoff appearances, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading will begin play as a new member of the Indoor Football League.
