Richmond RiverDogs News Release

Richmond, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs and their mascot, Razz, plan to explore the community yet again this weekend, expanding their horizons to schools, raceways, and soccer games.

To kick things off, Razz and Adam Kaufman, Richmond's Director of Broadcasting and Communications, will be making their way to the Goddard School for Early Childhood Development Thursday, September 1st, passing out free kids children's tickets from 5:15-6:30 pm. The school will be hosting an open house for its new "Jungle Gym." This event is only open to Goddard School students and their parents.

Then, on Friday, September 2nd, the Dogs will race over to the Southside Speedway in Midlothian to watch 100 laps of the Late Model Sportsman division, with the winner of the event slated to earn $1,000 in prize-money. Razz will again be on-hand and walking around from 6:30-8:30 pm. For more information about the race or the Southside Speedway, located at 2800 Genito Road, log on to www.southside-speedway.com.

Finally, before a restful holiday weekend, Razz and the Dogs will bark up a storm at the Richmond Kickers game on Saturday. The September 3rd contest marks the last regular season game at the University of Richmond Stadium for the Kickers in 2005 as they host the Portland Timbers in exciting United Soccer League action. The contest is set for 7:00, with the Dogs walking around the Stadium starting at 5:45. Should fans be interested in coming out in support of their favorite local sports clubs, the University of Richmond Stadium is located at 3201 Maplewood Avenue. For ticket information, visit the Kickers on the web at www.richmondkickers.com.

"We wish everyone a happy Labor Day weekend," said General Manager and Head Coach Robbie S. Nichols. "And, if people aren't going away somewhere, we hope they will be happiest spending time with the RiverDogs!"

As a special reminder to RiverDogs season-ticket holders, the Richmond Braves have been kind enough to invite you to be their guest on Saturday, the 3rd, for their second-to-last home game of the 2005 regular season. The game, played at The Diamond on N. Boulevard in Richmond, is scheduled for 7 pm against the Norfolk Tides, the Triple-AAA affiliate of the New York Mets.
