
RazorSharks pull out physical battle against Defenders

Rochester RazorSharks News Release
(Chicago, IL)...The Rochester RazorSharks (15-2) squeaked out a 114-107 victory against the Dallas Defenders (5-11). Rochester held a 14-point lead early in the 3rd, but Dallas pulled within 2 halfway in the 4th, but the RazorSharks were able to come away with the physical victory. The two teams combined for a total of 75 fouls, Dallas with 42 of them. The RazorSharks were led by Keith Friel's 21 points, shooting a perfect 9 of 9 from the line and made 4 3-pointers.
In a very physical opening quarter, both teams committed 11 fouls each. Dallas opened up a 6-point lead midway through the 1st, 20-14, with a 12-0 run. However, Rochester was able to battle back, shooting 11 of 17 from the line and finished the 1st, leading 31-30.
With 1:22 remaining in the 1st half, Rochester capped off a 14-4 run to push their largest lead of the half to 13, 57-44. Dallas was plagued by 10 turnovers in the 2nd quarter. However, the Defenders scored 6 in the final minute to pull within 9 and a 59-50 RazorSharks lead. Rochester was led by James Reaves' 13 points and 6 rebounds at the half and finished with 20 and 7, respectively.
In the first few minutes of the 3rd quarter, Dallas quickly ran into foul trouble with Rochester reaching the bonus. The Defenders committed 9 personal fouls in the first 4:13 of the 3rd quarter as Rochester built up a 14-point lead. Dallas committed a total of 14 fouls in the 3rd. However with Sammy Monroe and James Reaves both on the bench with foul trouble late in the quarter, Dallas mounted a comeback closing out the 3rd quarter down by 7, 84-77.
The Defenders continued their comeback into the 4th with 7:07 remaining, pulling within 2 points and a Rochester 90-88 lead. The RazorSharks were able to slowly build back a 10-point lead with 1:19 left to play before closing out the 7-point victory.
