Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Eleven games, zero losses. That's the story of the Corpus Christi Rayz season series against division rivals, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Rayz completed an undefeated stretch vs. the Bees with a 6-3 win Thursday night at the American Bank Center. After a 6-3 win in the Valley Saturday night, the Rayz swept the home and home series to once again move over .500 on the season. The Rayz will now visit San Angelo before returning home to face Austin Saturday night in the season finale.

For the second straight game, Dave Gilmore led the Rayz scoring rush. Fresh off a hat trick performance last game, Gilmore tallied a pair of goals and added an assist. Blair Stayzer matched that mark giving him three goals in the last two against Rio Grande Valley. After going through a scoring and victory drought, the Rayz broke out of both with authority in a pair of games against the Bees. After scoring 14 goals in 11 games prior to the two-game set, the Rayz busted out for 12 goals in both contests combined.

For the third straight game, the Rayz scored first and for the second straight game, they never trailed. Josh Blackburn made 33 saves fore his 15th win of the season and improved to a perfect 7-0 record against Rio Grande Valley.

The Rayz will return home on Saturday night for Fan Appreciation Night when they host the Austin Ice Bats at 7:00pm. There will be a pre and post-game party at the American Ban Center and fans will receive complimentary 2004-2005 Team Photos plus the opportunity to receive a trip to Las Vegas or a Cruise Vacation. Tickets are available at the American Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster locations and start as low as $10. For more information, please call the Rayz at (361) 814-PUCK.
