Ray Miron President's Cup Finals Set

The Ray Miron President's Cup Finals are set as the Bud Poile Governors' Cup Champion Colorado Eagles taking on the Texas Brahmas. The best-of-seven series will begin on Wednesday, April 29th in Loveland, Colorado at the Budweiser Events Center.
The trip to the finals is the first CHL trip for the Texas Brahmas who did play for the championship in the Western Professional Hockey League in 1998 as the Fort Worth Brahmas (they were swept by the El Paso Buzzards). The Brahmas won the Southern Conference and Southeast Division Championships during the regular season posting a 42-16-6 good for 90 points (third most in the CHL). Texas earned their way to the finals by sweeping Rio Grande Valley in the conference semifinals and then by beating Odessa in a seven game conference finals series.
For Colorado, the trip to the finals marks the fourth time in the last five years and the second straight season that the Eagles have had the opportunity to play for 'The Cup'. The Eagles have hoisted the cup as league champions in 2005 and 2007. Last season, they lost to the Arizona Sundogs. With a win, the Eagles would become the only CHL team to own three league championships (the Mudbugs won three straight championships in the WPHL). During the regular season, the Eagles finished with the league's highest point total at 94 boasting a 45-15-4 record. Colorado won the Northern Conference and Northwest Division.
Head-to-head during the regular season, the Brahmas won the only match-up with a 4-1 victory at the NYTEX Sports Centre in early February.
