
Rattlers Host Philadelphia in Battle of Unbeatens

(Rochester, NY)... The only undefeated teams remaining in Major League Lacrosse meet on Saturday, May 31st as the Rochester Rattlers host the two-time defending champion Philadelphia Barrage. The 7:30 p.m. contest at PAETEC Park will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM, wysl1040.com and ESPN360.com. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Channel 26).
Prior to each Rattlers home game, Foodlink, along with Bud Light, will present the official pregame party with live music and entertainment. Hot Daddy Rocks, formerly Lever Down, will perform live before the Rattlers' home opener.
After the game, the team will hold a meet-and-greet on the field. Fans can also attend the official postgame party at The Distillery at 1142 Mt. Hope Ave.
The game is the first of two games between the two clubs. The next installment is on Saturday, June 21st in Cary, NC. Rochester is 3-5 against the Barrage, but split the 2007 season series. The Rattlers won the last meeting, 16-11, on June 23, 2007 at PAETEC Park.
Rochester is 2-0 for the first time in franchise history after defeating the Boston Cannons 17-14 last Friday. John Grant led the way with seven goals, one two-pointer, and one assist en route to MLL Offensive Player of the Week honors. He scored three of his goals during the fourth quarter when Rochester overcame a 13-10 deficit by scoring seven goals. Through the first two games, Grant leads the MLL with 11 goals and ranks second in the league with 13 points. With 233 career points, he is now within two points of becoming Rochester's all-time points leader.
Casey (350) is also seven points away from passing Mark Millon as the league's all-time points leader. Goalie Mike Levin is just 20 saves away from becoming the team's all-time saves leader, passing Brian Dougherty.
Philadelphia enters the game 2-0 and is tied for first place with Rochester in the Eastern Conference. The Barrage defeated the Long Island Lizards 18-12 Sunday, as Seth Goldberg, Michael Springer (4+1) and Matt Striebel (4+1) each scored four goals. The last time Philadelphia played at PAETEC Park they won the 2007 MLL Championship.
Philadelphia goalkeeper Brian Dougherty earned the MLL Goalkeeper of the Week award. The reigning Warrior Goalkeeper of the Year, Dougherty made 18 saves as the Barrage earned an 18-12 victory over the Long Island Lizards. During the second and third quarters, he posted 11 saves while allowing just five goals. It was the 50th win in Dougherty's career, which are the most in MLL history. In two games this season, he has stopped 61.7 percent of the shots he has faced, while allowing 11.85 goals per game.
Rochester travels to play the Washington Bayhawks on Saturday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.
