Rattlers Host LA Riptide In Playoff Rematch

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers host the Los Angeles Riptide on Saturday, June 28th at 7:30 p.m. at PAETEC Park. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Brodie Merrill player card, courtesy of Bud Light. Fans can arrive early and enjoy the pregame party with live music from Shelflyfe. After the game, the Rattlers' official postgame party will be held at The Distillery at 1142 Mt. Hope Ave.
This is the first regular season meeting between the two teams. The contest is a rematch of the 2007 MLL Semifinals, which was won by LA 15-14 last August.
Rochester (4-2) enters the game in a first-place tie in the Eastern Conference. The Rattlers are coming off a 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Barrage last Saturday. Casey Powell (3+5) and Joe Walters (5+1) led the way to help Rochester break its two-game losing streak. Powell earned MLL Offensive Player of the Week honors for his effort.
John Grant, who had two goals and two assists, is tied for first in league scoring with 32 points. Alex Smith is second in the MLL with 42 ground balls. Brodie Merrill is second in scoring among league defensemen with seven points (3+4) in four games. Rookie defenseman Nick O'Hara is also putting up numbers after two games, recording three assists.
Los Angeles (2-3) has lost two straight games after dropping a 19-18 decision to the Long Island Lizards last Saturday. Kyle Harrison led the way with four goals. This season, Jesse Hubbard leads the Riptide with 17 points (9+1+7). Hubbard is fifth in league history with 328 points and is second in goals with 230. He needs just 10 goals to break Mark Millon's all-time goals record.
Rookie Kevin Huntley from Johns Hopkins has three goals and one assist in two games since getting selected in the second round of the 2008 Collegiate Draft. Last season, Los Angeles advanced to the MLL Finals. In 2007, defenseman Greg Bice was awarded the New Balance Sportsman of the Year.
The Rochester Rattlers host the Washington Bayhawks on Saturday, July 12th at PAETEC Park at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet. The game also will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.
The first 1,000 fans will receive a Joe Walters player card, courtesy of Bud Light. The first 3,000 fans will also receive a cowbell from Time Warner Cable.
