Dragons Take on Boston Cannons at Home

Burlingame, CA -The San Francisco Dragons host the Boston Cannons on Saturday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m. at Spartan Stadium. Only the second head to head against the Cannons since the Dragons traveled to Boston in 2006. Cannons lead series 1-0.

San Francisco (1-4) enters the game in third place in the Western Conference. The Dragons are looking to rebound off their 10-7 loss to the New Jersey Pride last weekend. Dragons currently are 3rd in the MLL with Face-Off Percentages (.521) and 4th in Shots on Goal Percentage (.689).

Attackman Jake Byrne leads the Dragons with 17 points (11 goals, 2 - 2point goals and 4 assists) and midfielder Tim Booth is second with 12 points (9 goals and 3 assists). Booth is also 5 for 10 in face-offs. Attackman Lewis Ratcliff has 9 points (8 goals and 1 assist). Dragons will be looking for newly acquired (Washington) midfielder Bill McGlone to add a veteran presence. The Dragons have missed veterans Liam Banks and Sean Lindsay the past two games due to injuries.

Rookies Matt Lalli, Mike Podgajny, Ryan Cranston and Brendan Loftus have been showing their abilities to make marks in the MLL. Greg Gurenlian is 69/132 on face-offs (.523%) and has 15 groundballs. In goal Dragons captain Matt Vallone has a .524 save percentage, while veteran defensemen captain Eric Martin and Steve Holmes have 16 and 11 groundballs. Martin, also with three assists, had an outstanding game in New Jersey, shutting down their #1 draft pick, Matt Danowski.

Boston (3-2) has won two straight games after beating the Washington Bayhawks 14-12 at Harvard Stadium last Saturday. Midfielder Paul Rabil netted four goals and one assist to earn Bud Light MVP honors and goalie Kip Turner made 20 saves.

Former Dragons attackman Matt Alrich and attackman John Christmas are tied as the Cannons scoring leaders with 19 points. Alrich has 17 goals and 2 assists and Christmas has 9 goals and 10 assists. Midfielder Matt Poskay is one point behind with 16 goals and 2 assists. Rookie Paul Rabil is coming off 4 goal/1 assist game against the Washington Bayhawks which garnered him Rookie of the Week. Mikey Powell has been hampered with hamstring injuries but is always an impact player.

Saturday's game will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet West (Channel 400), Dish Network (Channel 409) and Direct TV (Channel 656).
