Rattlers Clinch Playoffs with Fifth Straight Home Win

July 7, 2018 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Dallas Rattlers News Release

FRISCO, Texas - After a 14-9 home win over the Charlotte Hounds, the Dallas Rattlers became the first team to clinch a spot in the Major League Lacrosse playoffs.

The Rattlers and Hounds both started slow with the home team leading 3-1 at the end of the first. The Rattlers picked up steam in the second and grabbed a 7-4 lead headed into the half. Ned Crotty and Randy Staats paced all scorers with two goals each in the first half.

Early in the second half, Crotty notched his third goal to pick up a hat trick. Rookie defenseman John Sexton scored his first career MLL goal in style by scoring a two-point goal, the Rattlers only two-pointer of the day. With both teams battling, the Rattlers finally managed to pull away in the fourth quarter with four straight goals to secure the win.

The Rattlers are now the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season. The win also marks the fifth straight home win as the Rattlers remain the only team in MLL unbeaten at home.

Next up for the Rattlers is an away game on July 22 with the Denver Outlaws. The Rattlers return home to Ford Center on July 29 to take on the New York Lizards. Tickets for the home game versus the Lizards are on sale now.
