Ratcliff, Vinc, Macintosh & Keogh Honored
Published on May 2, 2012 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
Lewis Ratcliff of the Washington Stealth, Matt Vinc and Stephen Keogh of the Rochester Knighthawks and Jordan MacIntosh of the Minnesota Swarm are the National Lacrosse League's Players of the Week for Week 17, the final week of the regular season.
Ratcliff scored seven goals, added four assists and scooped up five loose balls in the Stealth's 17-16 overtime to Buffalo last Saturday. Ratcliff, whose final goal came with 99 seconds to play in regulation, was the first NLL player with seven goals in a game since Minnesota's Ryan Benesch in January 2011.
A pair of Knighthawks received awards for the first time this year after playing key roles in last Saturday's 9-7 win over Philadelphia, setting up a rematch this Saturday night in an Eastern Division Semifinal.
Vinc wins Defensive Player of the Week honors after turning away 35 of 42 shots. Keogh, meanwhile, wins the Rookie of the Week award. The second overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft had a career-high four goals and added two assists for a season high-tying six points.
MacIntosh is the Transition Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Last year's fourth overall selection scored twice, added four assists and tied a team high with 13 loose balls in the Swarm's 16-13 win over Colorado last Saturday.
The Swarm and Mammoth will square off in a Western Division Semifinal on Saturday night at Pepsi Center, 7:30pm Eastern / 5:30pm Mountain live on CBS Sports Network.
The weekly player award winners are selected by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
