Colorado Crush News Release

Nov. 11, 2003, DENVER - The Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League on Tuesday announced the signing of defensive specialist and kick returner Rashad Floyd, a player head coach Mike Dailey calls "a dominant player in our league."

Terms of Floyd's deal were not disclosed.

A two-year AFL veteran, Floyd was a wide receiver-defensive back for the Orlando Predators in 2002 and 2003. He is coming off a standout season, during which he had four pass interceptions, 48 tackles, 15 assists, seven pass blocks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Floyd also caught 12 passes for 224 yards last season, one for a touchdown. However, Dailey said he plans to use Floyd primarily as a defensive specialist and return man.

"We're excited to add Rashad to our team," Dailey said. "He's a dominant player at his defensive position in our league and we also think he will be an outstanding return man for us."

Floyd played both football and basketball at Portland State, where he was the most decorated defensive back in school history. He intercepted six passes as a starter in his freshman season. He was first team All-Big Sky Conference and second team Associated Press All-American as a senior after recording 68 tackles, including four for loss, and intercepting five passes.

Floyd's signing brings to eight the number of free agents the Crush has signed for the 2004 season. Previously announced were fullback-linebacker Rich Young, two-way linemen Hugh Hunter and Pat Downey, wide receivers Dorsey Levy, Robert Redd and Margin Hooks and kicker Anthony Brenner.

Season tickets for the 2004 Crush now are available. For information, call 303-352-1000, or visit coloradocrush.com.
