Rampage Sign af2's All-Purpose Yardage Leader

The Grand Rapids Rampage have announced the signing of Travis Burns, who led arenafootball2 in all-purpose yards (3,392) last season with the Norfolk Nighthawks. Burns (5'10" - 190 lbs - Liberty) spent the past two seasons with the Nighthawks, where he was coached by Rampage Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Rick Frazier, who was Norfolk's head coach in 2003.

In addition to leading the af2 in all-purpose yards, Burns was second in kickoff return yardage (1,601), was sixth in receptions (109), fifth in receiving yardage (1,567), third in receiving touchdowns (35), and was third in the af2 with 248 points scored (41 TDs, 1 two-point conversion). In 2002, Burns played WR/LB and grabbed 64 passes for 1,098 yards, ran for 153 more yards, and totaled 27 touchdowns. He also had 32.0 tackles and an interception.

Burns played college football at Liberty University, where in 38 games he caught 77 passes for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. He also served as the team's primary punt returner, averaging 18.8 yards per return. Burns attended Darlington High School in South Carolina. At Darlington, Burns was selected as one of the Top 50 players in the state, as well as being named a two-time all-state, two-time all-area, and two-time all-region selection.

The Rampage's seventh AFL season kickoffs on February 8, 2004 in Chicago against the Rush on NBC. The home opener is Saturday, February 14th when the Colorado Crush invade Van Andel Arena for a noon tilt. Rampage 2004 season tickets are on sale now, call 1.888.495.4878 for more details.
