Joliet, Ill. - The Joliet Slammers tied the game at three in the eighth and Brandon Peters launched a homerun on the first pitch of the ninth to put the Rascals in a 1-2 hole in the best-of-five Frontier League Championship Series.
River City was held to just three hits, two by Chris McClendon, and did not have an RBI hit on the night.
The Rascals took a 1-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly from Logan Parker that scored McClendon but the Slammers tied it in the third on a two-out single from Erik Lis.
Joliet took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on another two-out single but the Rascals responded with a run in the sixth and took the lead in the seventh after drawing four walks.
Erik Lis tied the game in the eighth with another two-out single before the Peters homerun ended it.
River City will try to force a game five tomorrow when Zack Sterner takes the mound on two days rest against the Slammers' Jake Renshaw. First pitch is slated for 5:05 and you can catch all the action on Westplex News-Talk 94.1 and online at westplexnewstalk.com.
