Raptors making solid progress, seek head coach
November 28, 2006 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Washington-Fresno Raptors News Release
Centralia, WA-The Lewis County Raptors, an expansion team in the International Basketball League, are off to a strong start in gearing up for the team's first season. The next step for the Raptors in what has been a surprisingly productive off-season is signing a head coach.
"We are looking for a coach with the ability and vision to compete and win in a high-scoring league," said Raptors' President Tim Joseph. The Raptors expect to announce a head coach by early January.
Community support for the Raptors in Lewis County has exceeded expectations. "With over four months remaining before the team's first game, the Raptors have already raised enough money to exceed their projected break-even point and in fact-fully pay the league dues; they even paid for an extra set of uniforms" said IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio, who oversees the team (the IBL has a new policy of overseeing first year teams' operations and finances).
"We are really excited by all the enthusiasm for the team," said Raptors' CEO Regina Joseph. "We are grateful to all the local businesses that have helped make professional basketball in Lewis County a reality."
The Raptors kick off their inaugural season on Friday, March 30 with a road trip to Lakewood, Colorado to take on the Colorado Crossover.
