Washington Raptors To Host History Making Four Game Series
December 18, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Washington-Fresno Raptors News Release
Rochester, WA. Taking a lead from major league baseball that has scheduled four-game series through its great history, ABA Washington Raptors' team owners Regina and Tim Joseph have scheduled a history-making four game series with the Fresno Rebels on Friday, Dec 19; Saturday, Dec 20; Sunday, Dec 21 and Tuesday, Dec 23. "Our fan base is very large; people come from throughout Washington and Oregon to see us play, but the pre-Christmas period is also a very busy period for our fans," stated General Manager Tim Joseph. "I saw how series worked when I was with the Seattle Mariners baseball club - and asked the ABA if we could experiment with the concept. By doing this, we keep travel costs at a minimum and are able to charge lower ticket prices and lower concession prices, but much needed in today's economy. The league was more than happy to accommodate. So, if you can't make it one day, you can make it on another day."
"We are especially delighted to have the Fresno Rebels for this series. This is a team that was scheduled to start in 2009 but everything came together quickly and they asked to be included in this season's schedule. They have a very strong team with well known players," added Regina Joseph, team President. "The fans and sponsors of the Raptors have been anticipating back-to-back games but were thrilled with the news of this history-making series.
The games will be played at Pierce College in Lakewood (a suburb of Tacoma). It is located at 9401 Farwest Drive SW in Lakewood, WA 98498. Tip-off time for all games is 7:15pm; the gym will open to the public at 6pm. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults, $5 for youth, children under age 6 are free. "We think this is the best sports and entertainment value in the Pacific Northwest," stated both Josephs. "And having a series like this makes it possible to do."
