Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release
HUNTSVILLE - The Tennessee Valley Raptors will head to Sioux City for the semifinal round of the United Indoor Football playoffs.
The eighth-seeded Raptors (7-9) posted a shocking 57-22 road victory over top-seeded Fort Wayne Freedom on Friday night. Now they'll face the No. 2 seeded Storm (14-2), which is coming off Saturday's 52-17 home victory over seventh-seeded Ohio Valley.
Saturday's kickoff is set for 7:05 at the Tyson Events Center and the game can be heard on 730-AM WUMP.
It will be the fifth semifinal playoff appearance for the Tennessee Valley franchise in its six-year existence. No. 5 Sioux Falls (9-8) will travel to third seed Lexington (12-4) in the other semifinal and the UIF championship will take place Aug. 13
"We played exceptionally well at Fort Wayne and I couldn't have drawn up a better result,'' said Raptors coach Dick Adams, whose team will try and avenge a 41-34 loss at Sioux City back on April 1.
"Our guys responded and I think they made a statement to the rest of the league. We'll hop on the bus Thursday night, ride 16 hours and then get ready to play some football. I'm excited for this team and our main goal is to play for the championship."
