Rock River Raptors News Release
Rockford, IL - Rock River Raptors are proud to announce the signing of Davy Ford RB and John Hollins WR to the Rock River Raptors 2006 roster. Davy Ford is a 5'11 205 pound running back out of Florida State University. After Graduating from Florida State, Davy Ford was signed by the Dallas Cowboys in January of 2004. He was allocated to NFL Europe where, in three scrimmage games, he had 4/40 yards, 7/60 yards, 9/82 for 9.1 YPC and led the team in rushing. Davy Ford gained 584 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns in four years at Florida State. In Ford's junior year, he rushed for a career-high 239 yards before missing the final four games with a broken collarbone. In high school, he was named All American Honors. He also won the state 100 meter dash as a senior with a 10.3. He also was timed at 4.25 at the 40 yard dash. John Hollins is a 6'2" 210 pound wide receiver from Ohio State University. At Ohio State John was solid special teams contributor, where he scored his first collegiate touchdown off a blocked punt against Kansas State in the 2004 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. John missed the entire 2001 season with a knee injury. In 2002, he recorded a 14 yard reception for his first catch at Ohio State. While at Wayne High School, Hollins was a first-team All-Ohio with 61 receptions for 1,220 yards and 17 touchdowns, as Wayne High School was a state runner-up his senior year. "In the UIF running the ball is key factor of the game and you need two quality running backs to be competitive. Not everybody can run a 4.25 40 yard dash and with Hollins size and speed will help us stretch the defense," said Coach Richards on the signing of Davy Ford and John Hollins.
