COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, January 17, 2013) - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club has signed Kevin Harbottle, a 22-year-old winger with experience in the Chilean National Team, as an International Player. Harbottle joins the Rapids from Chilean powerhouse Universidad CatÃ"lica, where he won the 2011 Copa Chile and played in the Copa Libertadores.

Harbottle will be eligible pending receipt of his P-1 work visa and International Transfer Certificate. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Kevin is a young, dynamic attacking player who will be a great fit for our squad this season," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. Harbottle comes to Colorado having played in the top division in Chile since 2009, most recently with Universidad CatÃ"lica, where he scored four goals in 32 league matches, helped the team to the 2011 Copa Chile, and also played four matches in the prestigious Copa Libertadores. In addition to his club experience, Harbottle was part of the Chilean Under-20 National Team from 2008-2010 and has made one appearance with the full Chilean National Team, entering as a substitute in a 2-0 friendly victory over Trinidad & Tobago on May 5, 2010 in his hometown of Iquique.

The Rapids open preseason with physicals and fitness work this weekend before the team's first training session on Monday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
