COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, March 22, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids announced on Thursday that the club has released Steven Emory. The midfielder signed with the Rapids after an open tryout before the 2011 season, and did not make an appearance with the club in MLS play.

"We'd like to than Steven for his efforts for the club over the last year, and wish him the best moving forward," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo.

Emory's only official match with the Rapids was a March 30, 2011 U.S. Open Cup match at the Chicago Fire. He made nine Reserve Team appearances last season, and came on as a substitute in both the Rapids Reserves matches so far this year.

The Rapids visit the New York Red Bulls this Sunday, March 25, with the game being broadcast live on ESPN at 2:00 p.m. MT. The team will then host the Chicago Fire on Sunday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
