Rapids Release 2013 MLS Regular Season Schedule

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, January 9, 2013) - The Colorado Rapids released their 2013 regular season today, announcing that the club will host 17 matches starting with the March 9 home opener against the Philadelphia Union at 4:00 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

After an early season visit to Utah, the Rapids will host their Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup rivals Real Salt Lake twice, first on Saturday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. For the annual 4thFest celebration at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the Rapids will face the New York Red Bulls. Colorado will play its only home match against the defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Colorado will play a total of 34 matches against Major League Soccer's other 18 clubs, with 17 at home and 17 on the road. The Rapids will face each Western Conference club three times and Eastern Conference opponents once during the regular season. During the colder months of March, April and October, all Rapids home games will be played in the afternoon, with the exception of a nationally televised October 5 matchup against the Seattle Sounders on the NBC Sports Network at 8:00 p.m.

A total of seven Rapids matches will be broadcast on national television in the United States, with six on the NBC Sports Network and two on newly branded Spanish-language station UniMás. Colorado's two nationally-televised home games will be the April 6 tilt against RSL and the October 5 game with Seattle. More information on the Rapids' local television and radio broadcasts will be released in February.

The Rapids will open preseason camp on January 17, and are set to participate in the Desert Friendlies presented by Tucson FC and the Las Vegas ProSoccer Challenge against Chivas USA on February 15 as part of their preparations.
